As the last surviving icon on Indiana Avenue, the Madame Walker Theatre Center is home to a world-renowned building listed on the register of National Historic Landmarks. Today, the Walker serves as a venue for hosting entertainment, showcasing artistic talent and promoting community education. Its goal is to remain the premiere organization to model the ideals of entrepreneurship and cultural enrichment. Its vision for the future is to serve as an enduring symbol of African American pride and achievement by perpetuating the legacy of the first female millionaire, Madam C. J. Walker.
